I have my moments, not so many these days at my delicate age, when I get fit and firing and work really hard at my fitness but it never lasts for more than a few weeks at the very most. I create a plan of action, motivate myself and things go swimmingly for a while and then—-
I have a day when I feel a bit sore, or I am not feeling too well, or I just feel dog tired and so I don`t follow my plan that day, I don`t do the required exercises and I eat the wrong foods and then it is just a slippery slope that leads back to where I started from. Which leads me to the main thrust of this post which is if people need a personal trainer to really push and motivate them or if they can go it alone if they have the required motivation. One thing I have found is that I do need some extra motivation and I suspect most people are exactly the same, as when the going gets tough when you are working out or dieting on your own it is too easy to find an excuse to step off the gas.
Personal trainers can help you in a variety of areas. Of course you can work in tandem with a colleague or friend and get fit together and this can work fine for people but it is always good if you can have a real professional by your side who knows exactly what you need to be doing day by day and week by week.
Firstly you need to make sure you choose a good personal trainer, check some out thoroughly and ask around for recommendations from some trusted friends. Then you have a good chance of getting yourself in the shape you always wanted to be in.
A good personal trainer will set out a daily and weekly plan of action. He will start you off fairly gently and then up the pace as you progress. He will make sure you are properly exercising all the main muscle groups, and in a way that will hopefully avoid any injuries to yourself. He will also make sure you have a diet that will give you all the energy you need for your exercise program and give you directions on when you should eat, what you should eat and how much you should eat.
He will also see the signs when you are beginning to tire, give you some extra motivation and ensure you have an enjoyable and varied exercise program so that you never see the exercising as a chore. Yes, the right personal trainers can be worth their weight in gold.
